POST-SESSION TATTOO CARE
For both traditional healing and healing with a healing patch, you should avoid the following for 7 days: alcohol consumption, excessive saturated fats, pools, beaches, gyms, or any physical activity that involves effort.
HEALING WITH DRESSING OR PATCH
Saniderm® healing patch is a transparent, breathable membrane that allows oxygen to enter, allowing the skin to "breathe" and heal correctly. The full treatment for proper tattoo healing with a healing patch is completed in 4 days using only 2 patches.
- 1st Patch: It is placed in the studio, right after finishing your tattoo, and it should not be removed until 24 hours later.
-
Remove it carefully in the direction of hair growth; you can do this during a warm shower if it's very adhered. Let the area air out for a few minutes, then wash it with warm water and mild soap. Dry it carefully without rubbing, preferably with a paper towel.
-
2nd Patch: It is placed with the tattoo completely dry (without creams). You can remove this patch after 72 hours or 3 days if the area is still clean.
-
After removing the last patch, repeat the washing and drying process. From here, your tattoo is superficially healed. Apply moisturizing cream 3 to 4 times a day for the next 15 days. We recommend Lubriderm® with a blue or gold cap.
- After the 15 days, use sunscreen and moisturizing cream periodically to avoid skin dryness.
TRADITIONAL HEALING
This type of healing requires more attention from the client, so please read carefully.
-
Remove the cling film placed by the tattoo artist on the tattoo. Clean the tattoo with water and mild soap, using water at room temperature to avoid irritation.
-
Dry the tattoo with a paper towel without rubbing the skin. Apply a thin layer of Bephantem cream. Excess cream is counterproductive. You may also use A&D healing ointment. Then re-wrap the tattoo with fresh cling film. Repeat this process every 12 hours for the next 3 days after the tattoo session.
-
After the 3 days, there’s no need to use cling film or healing cream. Just use a moisturizing cream, such as Lubriderm with a blue or gold cap, 3 to 4 times a day for the next 15 days to prevent dryness. The tattoo may shed thin layers of skin, which is normal! You may also experience itching; avoid scratching the area.
-
After 15 days, use sunscreen and moisturizing cream periodically to prevent skin dryness.
¿WHAT TO DO IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG WITH THE HEALING OF MY TATTOO?
The risk factors are controlled in our facilities, so the possibility of contamination in your tattoo is minimal. However, the first three (3) days after the tattoo session are critical because the wound has not yet healed, and if you expose the tattoo to contamination, it could get infected. The following symptoms, when combined, may indicate an infection:
- Irritation, redness of the skin after the second day.
- Pain in the area after the second day.
- Bad smell, even after washing the area.
- Pus.
If you experience any of these symptoms, contact us. We will ask you to suspend any treatment you're using. You should use Microdacyn® (do not cover the tattoo) and consult a general physician to determine the extent of the infection and recommend appropriate treatment to avoid complications.
